5 days!

My lil sis has been here in Melbourne since last Saturday and we’ve been in and out of the house like crazy, showing her around the city, traveling out into the suburbs, checking out places that even I have yet to check out. I dare say we’re really having a fab time together, and after not seeing her for nearly a year, it’s nice to finally have some sister bonding sessions  

It’s funny how no matter how quick they grow up, and yet, we constantly feel a need to protect them, to shelter them, to make sure they are okay even though they are probably old enough to look after themselves. 

Anyway, philip island in 1 hour to see penguins, kangaroos and koalas! we’re excited!

I secretly snapped a picture while they were sleeping, but I think I startled the little one who has super-sensitive sense of sound. It’s such a warm fuzzy feeling whenever I look at them, and I’m keeping this picture to remind myself how lucky I am to have them both. Soon, I no longer will be able to snuggle up next to them together or to even take a quick peek at them while I am doing my work. Time is flying too fast, and there’s too many changes that’s gonna take place by the time I board my flight back home. I probably have said this countless of times in this domain, but I don’t care. Cliche as it is, “home is where the heart is” – in Melbourne, they are the reason why I always look forward in coming home from school, work and play.

So the boy and I headed out to celebrate his graduation…

Nominated as one of the students to showcase their works at last night’s RMIT show,

(mind you, only 18 people were chosen out of the whole cohort!)

I’m super impressed at my boy who is able to ace every semester without fail

Well, the 3-course meal wasn’t exactly fantastic…

though I thought the coffin chocolate dessert was rather innovative.

I’m actually a fan of cabaret but i can’t say that I was blown away by the performance as well,

but I did enjoy some of the acts and jokes.

I think the plus point of the entire (nearly) 3 hours long dinner was

entering the dinner area by the ghost train and the interior of the place.

Pity I couldn’t take any pictures inside; would have loved to show how it was like.

Well, now I’m feeling like a sleepy zombie,

good night world.

Never in the world would I even imagine entering a lan shop, worse still, to even play one of those silly shooting games. But lo and behold, my virgin experience playing Left4dead (introduced by my dearest boyfriend and a couple of friends) tonight left me absolutely gamed for more. Although, *sheepish grin*, I could hardly control the keys well enough to really do a good job at either roles. And it being my very first lan game, I felt giddy after that. hahaha but it was quite an interesting sight to see rows and rows of guys staring intensely at their monitor screen, shouting to god-knows-who “help help I need help!” or “okay, let’s go in together”. 

But, I am proud to say that I now understand why guys love playing such games, and looks like I am looking forward to the next time I get to be a zombie.

There’s something about disposables that make me fall in love with. Perhaps, it’s the fact that it captures a particular moment, and you don’t really think about how the photo will turn out until you finally develop it. Sometimes when you look at the final outcome, you actually forget you even took those photos, or might even question if that moment even happened at all. 

That’s what I love about disposables; the films always surprise me – how it manages to capture the essence of the moment, and reminds you about the fun, the joy, the warmth, the friendship and the love that you forgot, but experienced on that very day. And even if no one was in the picture, it reminds you of a place that holds all the unforgettable memories you had with the people you were with.

That’s what I love about travel books – it’s like time traveling though pictures and words. Though it’s definitely not as exciting as visiting a new country itself, these books enlighten me with new cultures, breathtaking sceneries and architectures, and people from all walks of life. They tempt me; making me yearn to embark on an unknown adventure on my own to somewhere away from here. How exciting it would be, wouldn’t it? In due time, in due time.

I’m yearning for something more than this. 

Right this instant, the boy and I are clearing up our place, this humble apartment we call ‘home’ for the past 1.5 years. First, the couch and the dining table went. Later tonight, our shelf will be gone too and the living room will be bare for the first time since we moved in. I’ve started clearing out my winter clothes, packed them all neatly in plastic boxes, and basically stuffing whatever else I don’t need for now into it as well. My walk-in closet is slowly looking quite pathetic, though my table is completely filled up with random stuff I own. 

What a new feeling, this feeling I mean. Unlike the other girls and friends, it’s my first time shifting into a new place. And somehow, I feel, I’ll be leaving a part of me in this Unit 3 apartment. I’m definitely looking forward to live with Lish and Dinah, who I know will be awesome roommates, but it’s rather upsetting knowing no longer will I be able to come back home and see my boyfriend waiting for me. 

Now that I think about it, 2010 – it’s gonna be a big change. 

I’m not quite sure if I am ready for it.

Within a short span of 5 days, we:

- ate cheap but awesome pizzas at bimbo’s

- survived the rainy weather at Camberwell and had f*cking orgasmic hotdogs (as described by a random kid who saw us devouring it)

- enjoyed the sun rays by relaxing outside the state library

- got evacuated from a shopping mall 

- had personal and intimate talks about the past, present and future

- met THE ben and jerry (yes, not just the ice cream, but the founder of the ice cream!)

- had a hilarious night of Pictionary (uh hem, lish’s drawings were very memorable)

- had an enjoyable two sleepover nights (were supposed to chit chat till dawn, but we all just knocked out)

Pretty soon, we’ll be all reunited back in Singers, and knowing that I’ll be back home with friends and family pretty soon, I’m counting down the days.

As for now, I need to start losing weight, so that I won’t go back hearing my relatives say, “wah, you’re having a good life in Melbourne eh…you look chubbier.“
